2024 IM²C Competition Results

The International Mathematical Modeling Challenge begins with thousands of student teams competing through national and regional competitions worldwide. From those participants, each country or region may nominate up to two teams to represent them at the international competition. In 2024, 68 finalist teams from 36 countries and regions advanced to tackle the Picking the Perfect Pet modeling problem.

2024 Modeling Problem: Picking the Perfect Pet

The 2024 IM²C problem challenged teams to develop mathematical models that match pets with suitable households and project future pet ownership. Teams considered household readiness, animal welfare, and demographic trends while developing practical, data-driven recommendations.
