NEWS RELEASE
2025
11th Annual International Mathematical Modeling Challenge (IM2C)

We are pleased to announce the preliminary results of the eleventh annual International Mathematical Modeling Challenge (IM2C). There were 39 countries/regions invited to participate in the 2025 IM2C and after the national selection round, 69 teams competed in the international round of judging. All teams worked at their own schools during a 5 day period between February 3rd and April 28th, 2025. Each team was given a modeling problem and then constructed their solutions. This year's problem Global Sports League asked the teams to develop a model to help develop a scheduling system for an upcoming Global Sports League (GSL).

The Meritorious Award winners will be invited to the 2025 IM2C International Summit and Award Ceremony to be held July 21-25, 2025, in Hong Kong. The event will be accommodated and hosted on campuses of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and The University of Hong Kong. At the event, IM2C teams, members of the Expert Panel and Organizing Committee, educators, policymakers, schoolteachers, students, and industry leaders from around the world to celebrate achievement in mathematical modeling. From among the ten Meritorious teams, the Outstanding Award winners will be announced at the event.

A Complete Results Report sorted by team number, with designations for all participants, is available in portable document format (PDF).

We commend all the schools for their efforts. The judges were impressed with all the teams’ creativity and ingenuity in mathematical modeling and in their ability to explain their strategies and problem-solving techniques in clear terms. Each participant is a true winner. For additional contest information, contact IM2C at: info@immchallenge.org.
